Hi and welcome! I’m Dasha Maiorova (regarding pronunciation, I’ve gone by every possible variation) – a writer living in Sydney.
I was born in Minsk, Belarus, and have a particular passion for that area of the world. I’m currently polishing my first novel, Birch, a contemporary Russian gothic with a literary edge set in Saint Petersburg.
In 2015, Birch was long-listed for the Richell Prize for Emerging Writers. I have another work underway, Bury the Sun, where a crime exposing the fragile intersection between victim and perpetrator ignites violence in a Sydney suburb.
My previously published works include:
Roadkill Hour – Short story in The Big Issue Fiction Edition, August 2018.
Red-emption – Radio play produced by ABC Radio National Airplay program as part of Illawarra Water, October 2008 (name attributed as Dasha Mairov).
Gioca, Paper-People – Short story in TIDE vol. 5, 2008.
Plate Dynasty & The Teeth of Roses – Poetry and short story in Voiceworks no. 70, 2007.
